Public Performance Measurement and Reporting Network
The Public Performance Measurement and Reporting Network is a project of the National Center for Public Performance at Rutgers-Newark's School of Public Affairs and Administration. The Network is supported by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation.
The goal of the Public Performance Measurement and Reporting Network is to promote the use of valid, reliable data as a key element in improving the delivery of public services. In support of the Network, the National Center for Public Performance has implemented a series of initiatives: a comprehensive and continuously updated database of publications and cases; national conferences and workshops; publications of measurement-based books and articles; an Online Public Performance Measurement Certificate; and a monthly e-newsletter.
The Public Performance Measurement and Reporting Network will strengthen connections among citizens, government officials and administrators, nonprofit managers, academics and other groups that focus on the measurement and improvement of public sector performance.

E-Governance Institute
The E-governance Institute's mission is to explore how the internet and other information technologies (IT) have
and will continue to impact on the productivity and performance of the public sector and how e-government fosters new and deeper
citizen involvement within the governing process.
The Institute is committed through its work to supporting the gathering and sharing of knowledge, information and
data in order to increase the understanding of how e-governance can strengthen the fundamental partnership between the public sector
and the private citizen.
Information age governing presents an entirely new set of challenges for decision-makers, public sector
professionals and citizens. Finding solutions to these challenges is the primary role of the E-Governance Institute. As part of
Rutgers University's National Center for Public Performance, the Institute will focus its activities on emerging e-governance issues
impacting on all levels of government, the non-profit sector, the private sector and the civil society.
These activities will include:
- Research
- Education
- Technical Advisory Services
- Outreach / Networking
- Information Dissemination
- Annual Publications

The NJ Municipal Performance Measurement System
The National Center has undertaken a special initiative to
facilitate the use of performance measurement in municipal governments in New
Jersey through the development of a Performance Measurement System.
To this end, the National Center is collaborating with a small group of
municipalities to identify useful performance measures, analyze and graphically
display results, provide online training, and develop a database for trend
analysis and benchmarking. The project goal is to work with committed municipalities
to create a system of measurement that can be used by the elected and appointed
officials to assess the jurisdiction's performance over time and in comparison to
other jurisdictions.
