In the first installment of a three part series on Measuring for Performance and Engagement, Dr. Quintus Jett will discuss why and how to measure -beyond accountability. Topics will include coordination and collaboration with community members and other important groups, as well as the kinds and uses of data, questions about when to share data or not to share data, and other important topics.
The three-part series will use Dr. Jett's experience in New Orleans with the Gentilly Project as a backdrop to illustrate many of these concepts that face a municipality when beginning a data collection effort.
Quintus Jett (Ph.D. Stanford University) is an Assistant Professor of Public Affairs and Administration, and is a fellow with the Center for Urban Entrepreneurship and Economic Development at Rutgers University-Newark. His doctorate is in the field of Organizational Theory, with a focus on innovation and management in high-tech industries. Applying insights from this field, he has focused his research on the design of organizations that must be responsive to changing technology, growing diversity, and other significant environmental changes. He holds a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University, and is an alumnus of the University of Pennsylvania.
